At the end of 2022 two representatives from the Foundation, Sioban Hobbs and Georgia Burrell, had the privilege of visiting The Baby Bank, to see both the work they do and how their project, Growing The Baby, had progressed since receiving a grant from the Foundation.

The Baby Bank was set up by two mums in 2015 to distribute good quality second hand clothes, equipment and furniture to families in extreme need, with their goal being to ensure all children have the best possible start in life. They work with a variety of individuals, from volunteers and local parishes to organisations and social workers, ensuring the donations make it to those most in need.

Meeting Rebecca and Lauren, it was clear from the offset the dedication they had for the task at hand. Having recently moved to a bigger unit they were in the process of sorting and organising the donations they currently had, whilst finding space for more donations that just keep coming. This process is a lengthy one and they receive a lot of donations that unfortunately are not suitable, so the assistance of volunteers in this task can not be underestimated.

The funding the Foundation provided has gone towards cots, beds and mattresses for children and families, and we were delighted to see most of these had already been distributed.

During our visit they received notification of further funding they were going to receive, and it was clear to see the joy it brought them as they did a little happy dance around the room and discussed how the funds could best be used. A true delight to witness.

We thank the ladies at The Baby Bank for taking the time to show us around and look forward to a continuing relationship and volunteering opportunities with them in the future.
