generalSharon Davies, representing the Foundation, recently met with Monica Srivastava, Charity Grants Manager at the Royal Berks Charity, and the wider team. The charity was one of the beneficiaries of our Winter 2025 funding round. The Royal Berks Charity is the NHS charity of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, supporting hospitals across Reading, Newbury, Bracknell, Henley and Windsor, and raising funds to enhance patient care, improve hospital environments and drive innovation beyond core NHS funding.
Our grant will contribute towards a Reminiscence Interactive Therapy Activities (RITA) device, a digital therapy system designed to support older patients with dementia, learning disabilities and other cognitive impairments during their hospital stay. Hospital environments can often be confusing and distressing for these patients, and the device helps to provide comfort, familiarity and meaningful engagement.
Up to 500 patients each year are expected to benefit through improved wellbeing and a more positive hospital experience. The RITA device delivers reminiscence therapy in a practical and accessible way, using personalised films, photographs, games and music tailored to each patient’s interests and life experiences.
